Optimization techniques

The research targets enhancing the capabilities of today’s optimization techniques. Where we typically deal with shape and topology optimization.

Challenges

With an eye for practical application, like these, we develop new algorithms for topology optimization focusing on:

  • Sensitivity analysis;
  • Re-analysis of designs;
  • Very large systems in a hierarchal structure;
  • Manufacturability;
  • Designing with uncertainties.

An additional challenge in topology optimization is the multiphysical nature of microsystems.
